October 23, 2008 – Gregory Cade, U.S. Fire Administrator, will join leaders with a wide range of expertise in areas of fire protection and safety at a symposium hosted by the Fire Protection Research Foundation (FPRF) to focus on preparing for the next 25 years. The event will take place November 17-18 at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C.

Number of large-loss fires up by more than 54 percent in 2007

November 7, 2008 – Findings from the soon-to-be released report Large-Loss Fires in the United States 2007 are featured in the latest issue of NFPA Journal, the official magazine of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Each year, NFPA publishes details on large-loss fires and explosions in the United States that each resulted in property damage of at least $5 million.

Sutherland named executive editor of NFPA Journal

November 18, 2008 The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) today announced the appointment of Scott Sutherland as executive editor of NFPA Journal. He has over 20 years of journalism experience, including staff writing, and editing and management positions and freelance contributions to print and online publications. Sutherland will oversee all editorial activities for NFPA’s official magazine.
